With our ISY Plant suite of converters you can convert 3D models from your 3D system to E3D / PDMS – and back again. The consistency of the data are maintained. Unlike most other converters, our converters support smart conversion of your 3D data.

We have developed our own engine for recognition of 3D solids which translates to basic primitives such as boxes, cylinders and cones. This greatly reduces the use of meshed objects and the models become more convenient to work with.

We currently support conversion between E3D / PDMS and Bentley MicroStation, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit and Plant 3D.

    Our solutions lets you convert intelligent data to and from PDMS and MicroStation.

    Convert from MicroStation 3D to PDMS

    What:

    • Converts 3D geometry with attributes to PDMS mac-file.
    • Geometry is exported as highlevel solids whenever possible

    Applications needed:

    • ISY Plant ExportPDMS for MicroStation

    Installed where:

    • On top of MicroStation v8i or MicroStation Connect.

    With Export PDMS for MicroStation you can organize the PDMS model hierarchy. Export your 3D models interactively or set up a batch job.

    A lot of formats are supported. Whatever you can put into MicroStation can be exported to PDMS.

    Convert from PDMS to MicroStation 3D

    What:

    • Converts 3D geometry with attributes from rv/rvm-file + attribute file.
    • Geometry is imported as highlevel solids whenever possible
    • Batch convert rv/rvm files
    • Split or merge rv/rvm files into one or several dgn files.

    Installed where:

    • On top of MicroStation v8i or MicroStation Connect.

    ImportPDMS is a powerful application that lets you import PDMS 3D models to MicroStation. The model hierarchy and metadata are also transferred and can be browsed and searched by the MicroStation Item Browser.

    Convert from MicroStation 2D to PDMS Draft

    What:

    • Transfer MicroStation 2D elements to PDMS Draft

    Applications needed:

    • ISY Plant MicroDRAFT

    Installed where:

    • On top of MicroStation v8i or MicroStation Connect.

    MicroDRAFT saves time in PDMS DRAFT by saving you from reworking data already available in MicroStation. You can:

    • transfer MicroStation symbol libraries
    • transfer drawing borders as backings heets
    • transfer complex logos wich is tedious and time consuming to draw in PDMS DRAFT
    • transfer ordinary project drawings or keyplans

    Our solutions let you convert intelligent piping and equipment from AutoCAD Plant 3D to PDMS. They also let you convert PDMS geometry, attributes and hierarchy into the AutoCAD environment to make it easy to cooporate between the two tools.

    A conversion from PDMS to Inventor is done in a two-step operation. Both applications are developed by us to prevent data loss and reduction in quality. The first step is to convert the rvm-files using ISY Plant ImportPDMS for AutoCAD which is loaded on top of AutoCAD. The converter will create the importfiles for Inventor.

    Both high level geometry, hierarchy and attribute data from PDMS is preserved during the conversion.

    Preparation of conversion

    Are you heading for a project where conversion is needed, it can be good to let us now as early as possible. Maybe just small tweaks, another workflow, or other elements is enough to give you way higher quality on the delivered models. We have been involved in a lot of project worldwide; - both proof of concept projects and real projects. By doing a proof of concept, the quality and process will be ensured and you will be comfortable with the next steps.

     

    Advice for conversion

    In large 3D-model conversions and other collaboration project it might be a good option to have special expertise available to ensure that the converted models are correct. To be involved on an early stage is always good.

    Before converting a model there can be many questions which needs to be addressed, for instance:

    • global/local coordinate system
    • required metadata and mapping of those
    • which 3D-data to be converted
    • quality requirements of 3D-geometry
    • how the data should be used
